Why I'm here....

Since I've always been quick with an opinion an old friend once lost and again found suggested that perhaps I should share with more people my commentary. Never being one to pass on a challenge I thought I'd give it a whirl.

A Chance Encounter

A few years back I was in the Chicago airport waiting on a plane. It was pretty crowded. I sat down beside this pretty brunette lady. She seemed the least worrisome to sit down beside. I've never been comfortable in airports when I'm by myself. I was trying to read a book but I really wasn't in to it. I think she could tell. She asked me what I was reading. She struck up a conversation with me. I guess she could also tell I was a bit uptight about being there and waiting. It was an hour and a half wait and she pretty much kept me talking the entire time. As fate or luck would have it she was in the seat next to me on the plane too. I had no flipping idea who she was. While in flight she got up to go to the rest room and the flight attendant comes up to me and says "So what is she like?" I said what is who like? She then said to me "you have to be kidding right?" I said no, I don't know what you're referring to. She said you're sitting next to that girl and you don't know what I'm talking about? The look on my face must of told her I still had no clue what she was talking about. She said you're sitting next to Marlo Thomas. I said if you're referring to the woman next to me she's nice. Anyway when Marlo came back the flight attendant gushed at her and asked for her autograph, along with several passengers after they realized who she was. She then turned her attention back to me. I thanked her for being so kind to me. She said it was nice to have someone to talk to that didn't want to for her past fame or for her dads. Gees it dawned on me. Danny Thomas was her dad. She then showed me a photo of her family and of her and her dad. She was flying coach. She told me she never took to the glitz and the glam. Neither did her dad. Simple was better. I actually hated to see the flight come to an end. I then had to go look her up cause I really still had no clue who she was. Her dad yes, her no. A little before my time. Anyway that is it in a nutshell.

I think people like this enjoy it when someone treats them like a real person. They don't get that that often. The plenty of people who go goo goo gaa gaa over them. So to actually have a normal conversation with someone like you was probably really refreshing to her.
